The Integrated Unit Plan (IUP) was developed over the course of six weeks. The topic of my IUP was Powerful Plants, and it was written for implementation in a second grade science classroom. The IUP is aligned to both state and national standards of learning and incorporates standards from multiple content areas. The IUP included specific character education goals, instructional goals, and instructional objectives. Specific accommodations and lesson adaptations are provided to address varying learning styles, special education needs, and student preferences. A comprehensive list of resources and references is also provided, including appendices with specific learning materials and assessments needed for each lesson.

This 5-week until plan was created for my EDUC 531 Course: Teaching the Natural & Social Sciences. The topic of my unit plan was The Powhatan of the Eastern Woodlands and the content area is second grade social studies. The unit plan states general goals, character principles, components of classroom diversity and differentiation, and specific learning objectives. The unit is aligned to both state and national standards. The unit plan has a 25-day schedule and specifically describes a unit launching activity and six learning activities with various formative and summative assessments.
